DAM OF THE WALL

Roman Dam

The period best represented in the county, in terms of archaeological remains is that of the Roman occupation. Located in the Ribeira of Dogs, parish of Our Lady of Expectation, the Dam of the Wall impresses the visitor with its remarkable height and development. The wall, with a length of 174m is supported by 16 buttresses and the maximum height of 4.6 m is visible. On the downstream side of the dam, there are remains of three arches supported by buttresses, whose main function would be to increase the stability of the sector subject to higher pressures.
