DAM OF ALCÁNTARA

It is the second largest artificial lake in Spain, caused by the construction of the Salto de Jose Maria Oriol also known as Dam Alcantara. Zepa declared in 2004 by the variety of birds that can be sighted area.

The reservoir is located in the center-west of the province of Cáceres, in the cities of Coria, Alcantara, Navalmoral, Plasencia, Caceres and Trujillo. The flora is representative riparian vegetation, Mediterranean forests, but the most significant value of the reservoir focuses on the birdlife of international importance.

Address: Former 117 Portugal first turn right, then take turn left, pass the inn and a few meters turn right to reach the reservoir.
