It is an enclave of high ecological value located west of the province of Cáceres. Declared Tagus International Natural Park since July 2006 that spans 25,088 ha. between the Alcántara Bridge and Dam Cedillo, including the lake ”La Cantera”.
Alcántara contributes 37% of total acres that covers the territory of the park. Notable natural resources are its wide range of fauna and flora typical of the region, major biological and environmental value.
